Prairie is proud to offer one of the best Music and Performing Arts programs for preschool, elementary, middle and high school students in the Racine and Milwaukee area.
Join us on Saturday, May 6th, for a very special student and parent music class with Matt Oscarson, Prairie’s Primary and Middle School Music Teacher!
With special emphasis placed on sensory experiences and physical movement – two key forces behind brain development – Music & Movement with Mr. O is a unique introductory program focusing on play and physical expression. Bond with your child in a fun environment while bouncing, singing, finger-playing, exploring instrument sounds and dancing!
Parents and caregivers can use song, movement, and touch to enhance bonding with their children. This class will promote musical, linguistic, emotional, and kinesthetic development among children in their formative first months*. This class is designed for children aged 16 months to 3-years-old. A parent must be present. Children should wear comfortable clothing. Juice and snack will be provided.
Concepts to be covered:
- Keeping a beat
- Awareness of instruments and different sounds
- Self awareness and socializing
- Movement to the sounds of music
*Research shows music plays a critical role in a child’s brain development. Through the use of Orff-Schulwerk, a methodology of music education, children begin with what they instinctively do: play! Imitation, experimentation, and personal expression occur naturally as children become confident, life-long learners and creative problem solvers.
The class will be limited to fifteen children. The cost is $10 per child.
