Activities and Leadership Opportunities

The Prairie School is proud to offer an exciting array of activities and leadership opportunities to balance and enhance the educational experience. Options include service groups, athletics, advisory boards, fine and performing arts, fitness classes, music lessons, a variety of clubs, and much more. Our extensive offerings help students lead balanced lives, develop their full potential, and prepare for their future.

Faculty expertise, student passion, and other factors may cause the lists to change annually.

PRIMARY SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

MIDDLE SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

The Middle School is a busy place! Besides high-quality academics, students enjoy a wide variety of opportunities to explore and excel beyond the classroom.

  • Clubs
    • 5/6 Book Club: Meets 11:00a.m. – 11:30a.m. on Thursdays in the SRC. Contact Mrs. Weaver for more information.
    • 7/8 Book Club: Meets 11:00a.m. – 11:30a.m. on Tuesdays in the SRC.  Contact Mrs. Weaver for more information.
    • Coloring Club: Meets Mondays from 3:45p.m. – 4:30p.m. in the SRC.  Contact Mrs. Weaver for more information.
    • Rocket Science: It’s more than rocketry! Meets Thursdays from 3:45p.m. – 4:30p.m. in M1. Come when you are able as we explore rocketry and many other interesting science topics.
    • Story Chasers: Do you love to write?  Do you wish you were a better writer?  Join Story Chasers on Wednesdays from 3:45p.m. – 4:30p.m. in M11 and bring your ideas, or something you’re working on.  You also have the opportunity to join a Young Writer’s November Writing project (a national writing initiative) or sign up for an assignment for the 5th-8th-grade newspaper team.     • Tech Club: Meets daily for “cart duty” – delivering and retrieving computer carts for use by classrooms around the school — and weekly on Tuesdays (3:45p.m. – 4:30 p.m. in M20) for learning some of the fun ways technology can be used – from web design to animation and more.     • Tinkering Club: Meets 7:30a.m. – 8:15a.m. on Wednesdays in the SRC.  Contact Mrs. Weaver for more information.
    • Volunteer Club
    • World Language Clubs: These groups meet every other A Day during lunch. Language students discover and experience the Hispanic (Room M20) or Chinese (M21) cultures, from food to holidays and more. Contact Mrs. Rivera or Mr. Yan for more information.
